Russia showed its Arctic Shamrock military base for the first time, 17 April 2017

The Russian Ministry of Defense on the official website for the first time showed the unique military base Arctic shamrock built for Russian servicemen on the Alexandr island of a Franz Josef Land archipelago in the Arctic. This was reported by the press service of the Russian Ministry of Defense.

an interactive project was launched on the Ministry of Defense website – a virtual tour of the base. It is noted that its military infrastructure consists of numerous special purpose facilities, control posts, garages for military and special equipment, an autonomous power unit, specialized warehouses and storage facilities.

“The 3D tour of the virtual military base demonstrates how equipped are rooms for servicemen, officer’s canteen, training and cinema-concert halls, atrium, library, greenhouse, medical unit,” the report said.

Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said earlier that the Arctic Shamrock would become the northernmost object of Russia’s military infrastructure and the world’s only object of capital construction at the 80th degree of the northern latitude.
